In 1978, the Deutsche Bank AG group began its operations in Portugal through MDM, a financial consulting company that became an investment company in 1983.
In 1990, the Deutsche Bank de Investimento S.A., with headquarters in Lisbon, was created as a result of the conversion of MDM into an investment bank, which enabled it to expand its activities from financial consulting and medium and long-term financing to short-term credit operations, foreign exchange and derivatives operations, transnational banking and fundraising.
In 1997, developments were initiated in the areas of Private Banking and Consumer Financing and, at the end of 1999, in the area of Home Loans for private clients. In October 2002, Deutsche Bank in Portugal formally began operations in the field of Private & Business Clients. In 1999, in order to better reflect the universal aspect of DB’s business operations carried out in Portugal, Deutsche Bank de Investimento, S.A. gave way to Deutsche Bank (Portugal), S.A.
Currently, the Deutsche Bank network in Portugal is made up of 12 branches and 36 agencies, offering a broad range of products and services to small and mid caps and private clients.
